Dune _ Hill _ prototype

April 12, 2022

In this work… I am creating … while reflecting on the healthy parts of my life. I have looked closer into the glass mixing and batch work I make exclusively for sections in this wood-glass-driftwood … challenging my creativity.

How can I evolve new excitement? … how can I expand my practice? … how am I reflecting the new-found energy into the work? … what is color doing for emotional response? …

I like taking risks and working with different size glass shards, to sculpturally expand pate de verre… this new, heavier, thicker work is providing a textural inflation to the surface, expanding the narrative through color, shape/scale, and light reflections.

In the detail photo in the center of the wood prototype, I have used all sorts of textural shaped glass to experiment. This is taking the smooth look, allowing the work to engage the viewer differently.
