PTSD # 1 - Reflecting on experiences I carry with me after combat, I realize the actual fragility of my helmet. If impacted by gunfire, my helmet could break just like glass. Waiting to feel the impact from enemy rounds during engagement feels extreme and intense; the anxieties soldiers experience for their safety in these moments can’t be accessed or imagined by civilians. This glass helmet represents the delicacy of a soldier’s mental health and provides civilian access to a combat experience.
